Fenwick Arcana

Arcana (real name Paul D. Utterwan) is a renowned medium and alleged expert in the paranormal. His ‘gifts’ have been well documented and proudly exploited at every opportunity by the media savvy Mr Arcana. A member of a local spiritualist circle, Arcana devotes his time to numerous television appearances, book signings, and openings of events from envelopes to shopping trolley parking spaces.

Arcana is reported to be in his early forties and discovered his gift at the age of five when Wyatt Earp materialised as a full body apparition and shot his cat. The event would scar Arcana for years to come and eventually fuelled his alco-pop habit which led to his arrest for drink driving last year. The arresting officers counted 87 bottles of ‘Mary’sDick’ Cranberry alco-pops in the back of Arcana’s car.

The case was dropped when Arcana claimed in court that his spirit guide, Hamson was driving at the time. In an astonishing turn of events, Arcana channelled Hamson who stamped about the courtroom, denouncing everyone as wicked. Arcana/Hamson was eventually restrained after calling a prosecution witness a bitch and hurling the gavel into the gallery, striking an elderly gentleman on the temple.

Arcana was released and a warrant prepared for the arrest of Hamson. Arcana and Hamson have since parted ways and Hamson’s whereabouts is currently unknown. Arcana’s search for a new guide is rumoured to be documented in an upcoming reality series, believed to be called ‘P Factor’, where Arcana and some of his colleagues audition hopeful candidates for the plum job of being Arcana’s spirit guide.

Arcana has come under critical fire in recent years for being a fraud and an opportunistic charlatan. Most of this criticism has come from Arcana’s arch rival, Devon Brawn, TV wizard and disillusionist. Brawn was livid when Arcana’s book ‘Travels With My Spirit Guide’ pipped his own book to number one in the local bestseller list. Brawn’s snide remarks during a book signing resulted in both men being involved in a full on hand slapping, hair pulling fracas which resulted in each suing the other for damages. (to a fedora and a bouffant respectively)
